Hoyt Irving & His Twelve Bar Troubadours
Hoyt’s musical talents were noticed at age 9 in the gospel choir when he presented a colorful lyrical improvisation to “O Holy Night”. Encouraged to leave the church shortly thereafter, he found himself captivated by music rooted on the back porch. Simple, raw sounds that come from the soul. An accomplished pianist, Irving felt most passionate strumming the cigar box guitar because that’s what felt most authentic to him. The members of the Twelve Bar Troubadours varied somewhat over the years but Hoyt always led the group to consistently produce their signature sound.
